Zhejiang Hongfeng Key Enterprise Institute of Functional Composite Materials
Provincial Key Enterprise Institute
Overview
With the support of Wenzhou Hongfeng Electrical Alloy Co., Ltd., Zhejiang Hongfeng Key Enterprise Institute of Functional Composite Materials is built on the achievements of the High-tech Enterprise R&D Center and the Enterprise Technology Center
In Nov 2016,
the Institute was included in the Provincial Key Enterprise Institute Construction Program by the Science Technology Department of Zhejiang Province
In Oct 2013,
the Institute was included in the Provincial Enterprise Institute Construction Program by the Science Technology Department of Zhejiang Province
In Jan 2010,
the Institute was established
Targeting the common and key technical problems facing the electrical alloy industry in China, the Institute endeavors to make breakthroughs in several fields, such as the innovation of high-tech composite material technologies, the R&D of advanced process equipment, the application of industrial Internet of Things, the cluster of advantageous resources, and the promotion and application of composite material technology achievements, in an effort to accelerate the industrialization of new materials by taking advantage of the advanced equipment and industrial Internet of Things, so as to provide technology, equipment, information and personnel support for Hongfeng’s development vigorously and efficiently.
R&D team

Attaching great importance to the recruitment, deployment, and training of sci-tech professionals, Hongfeng implements a strategy of “recruiting more capable personnel while sending employees to further training”, intended to build an R&D team with high synergy and professionalism in composite materials, electric appliances, and ecological environment that ranks among the top in China. Through cooperation with Zhejiang University and other universities, Hongfeng opens its gate to the best graduates, and every year, some of Hongfeng’s professionals are sent to universities for further study.

Led by the chief engineer, more than ten people with master’s and doctorate degrees and more than a hundred people with junior college degrees or above are forged into an innovative R&D team with young and middle-aged scientific researchers as the mainstay. In addition, Hongfeng recruits every year a certain number of college graduates who will engage in new product R&D, which improves the scientific research capability of the Hongfeng team and prepares well for the reserve of talents of the Institute, so as to make more contributions to the development of the industry.

National Postdoctoral Research Workstation

The post-doctoral workstation at Wenzhou Hongfeng Electrical Alloy Co., Ltd. was rated as the post-doctoral workstation of Wenzhou City in 2013, and the post-doctoral workstation of Zhejiang Province in 2015. As an important starting point for promoting the recruitment and training of professionals and the industry-university-research cooperation, the post-doctoral workstation ensures that the resources of professionals and intellectuals are channeled to Hongfeng for boosting the company’s transformation and upgrading.

Up to now, three post-doctoral fellows have completed their research at the workstation, and one doctoral candidate is working there, enabling the connection between innovative projects and real productivity.

University-Enterprise Cooperation
Zhejiang University-Wenzhou Hongfeng R&D Center of Nano Electrical Contact Functional Composite Materials

Zhejiang University-Wenzhou Hongfeng R&D Center of Nano Electrical Contact Functional Composite Materials, established in December 2010, is a research base for studying electrical contact composite materials. The R&D Center is co-established by Wenzhou Hongfeng Electrical Alloy Co., Ltd. and the Zhejiang-California International Nanosystems Institute of Zhejiang University, with a focus on the R&D needs of Wenzhou Hongfeng in electrical contact functional composite materials to assist Hongfeng in developing new materials, new processes, new technologies, and new products, backed up by the Zhejiang-California International Nanosystems Institute of Zhejiang University with its resources in personnel, facilities, equipment, and research capabilities. The research covers the preparation of new silver-based electrical contact materials, the R&D of electrical contact materials with new micro-nano composite structures, high temperature creep characteristics and thermal processing map design, interface structure regulation, electrical contact performance, etc.

The personnel in the R&D Center have a clear division of labor. They are identified by a wide range of professional backgrounds, involving materials, chemistry, machinery, electronics, accounting, management, and other majors, which provides the R&D Center with an interdisciplinary advantage and guarantees the success of the Center’s work. For more than a decade, the R&D Center has achieved gratifying results. It has applied for several projects funded by the National High-tech R&D Program (863 Program) and the Provincial Key R&D Program, which have been successfully completed the accepted. It has won 2 second prizes of the Zhejiang Science and Technology Progress Award, published more than 50 papers, and filed more than 40 patent applications. In cooperation with universities, the R&D Center provides for 3 post-doctoral fellows, 1 doctoral student, and 1 master student to study there.

Central South University-Wenzhou Hongfeng Alloy Co., Ltd.

The cooperation between Central South University and Wenzhou Hongfeng began in May 2022. Specifically, the partners are the State Key Laboratory of Powder Metallurgy of Central South University, and Wenzhou Hongfeng Alloy Co., Ltd., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Wenzhou Hongfeng Electrical Alloy Co., Ltd. In the cooperation, Hongfeng receives full support in human resources, facilities, equipment, and research capabilities from the State Key Laboratory of Powder Metallurgy of Central South University to boost the company’s development of new materials, new processes, new technologies, and new products. The research covers the development of cemented carbide and cermet substrates, the development of advanced coating materials, the development of powder metallurgy materials and related product technology, the development of advanced brazing materials and diffusion welding alloy materials, etc.

The cooperation is conducted in specific projects. The research project for the first year is “Carbon Oxygen Reaction Mechanism and Sintering Process Optimization in the Sintering Process of Ultrafine Cemented Carbide”. The team of Mr. Du Yong from Central South University has developed the largest and most precise thermal and kinetic database of cemented carbide globally, which provides a good theoretical basis for the project cooperation.
